If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, see How to Get Care.
We provide outpatient psychiatric clinical services to enrolled U-M students.
At a glance:
- Referral required, typically from a UHC clinician
- Specialized care for complex mental health issues, including patients who have tried several psychotropic medications; have a severe mental illness resulting in psychosis or mania; have recently been admitted to a psychiatric in-patient clinic; or have other complicated factors
- UHC primary care providers are highly skilled in mental health care, including medication management, and can address most mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and basic sleep problems. If they determine you require specialist-level care, they will provide you with a referral to psychiatry
- We are not able to offer regular therapy; clinical counseling is available through UHC’s Counseling & Psychological Services
- We are not able to offer neuropsychiatric testing
