- Suicidal ideation: In a 2023-2024 survey of U-M students, 9% reported they seriously thought about attempting suicide in the past year.
- Self-harm: In the same survey of U-M students, nearly a quarter (24%) reported they engaged in self-injurious behavior.
- Peer Support: 93% of students reported they would reach out to someone if they were experiencing serious emotional distress, and 72% identified they would reach out specifically to a peer (i.e., roommate, friend, significant other) for support.
