This plan is designed especially for college students and is offered through Blue Care Network of Michigan, a subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield. 

Costs, deadlines & enrollment

  • Enrollment is now open until September 30, 2025 for coverage dates August 24, 2025-August 23, 2026.

  • The annual purchase price for 2025-26 is $3,495.24, with an annual deductible of $100 for in-network care and $100 for out-of-network care

* After the enrollment deadlines, students are only eligible to purchase the plan if they have involuntarily lost health insurance coverage through a Qualifying Life Event, such as turning age 26, marriage, birth of a baby, or ending of an insurance policy.

Eligibility 

  • U-M students, including undocumented students and permanent residents, who are enrolled in classes or between semesters (e.g. during spring/summer session) at the Ann Arbor, Dearborn or Flint campuses, including:
    • U-M degree-seeking students taking classes online or remotely (students who are taking “series,” “MOOCs” or “teach-outs” are not eligible)
    • Graduate and doctoral students who are completing graduation requirements (writing thesis, preparing dissertation, studying for prelims, studying abroad on detached study, pre-doctoral candidates, etc.)
    • International students, students with dual citizenship and international scholars who are not eligible for the International Student and Scholar Health Insurance Plan
  • Spouses, domestic partners of any gender, and children (up to age 26) of the groups listed above

Annual Installment Payments

If you enroll for the annual plan by September 30, you may choose the installment payment option when you complete enrollment.

  • This consists of three payments throughout the annual enrollment period.
  • Payment for Period 1 is due upon enrollment. Multiple reminder emails will be sent starting thirty days prior to the payment due date. If your payment is not received by the due date listed, or if your credit card is denied, your coverage will be canceled on the final day of the month it was due.
